The Next Step

We understand that deciding to move into residential care is a big decision, as is choosing a home. At Autumn House, we strongly recommend that anyone considering using our services pay us a visit before making a decision. We welcome visitors but, for the comfort of our residents, we require that you make an appointment. Simply contact us, to arrange a visit and we’ll be happy to welcome you to Autumn House.

During your visit, we will be able to answer your questions about Autumn House and our policies, as well as discussing your individual needs, so that you can make the best decision about whether Autumn House is the right choice for you.

Who lives here?

Autumn House is home to up to 44 men and women. With very few exceptions, our residents are over the age of 65 and are typically elderly. We specialise in providing supportive care for people with dementia, as well as other physical and mental disabilities. We also accept residents under the age of 65 if we feel that their physical, mental and social needs can be met here.

Admission process

We encourage future residents to get to know the house, the other residents and the staff before committing to live at Autumn House. For this reason, we offer a graduated admissions service which typically runs as follows:
  • An introductory visit
  • Several more visits
  • Attending during the day or respite care
  • Moving in
  • A one-month trial period
  • Permanent residency

It is important to us that each of our residents is able to be happy at Autumn House. We work hard to ensure that each resident maintains their independence, dignity and freedom of choice as long as they are able. Our graduated admissions process allows future residents to get to know us, ensuring that they are confident in their choice and allowing us to be sure that we can offer the care they need.

Fees and Costs

In many cases, fees and costs are covered by benefits arranged by social services, however this depends on a number of factors. Autumn House can offer support and advice as the benefits application process can be complex.

The standard fees at Autumn House cover all the important elements of care, including:

  • 24-hour care
  • Meals and refreshments (including catering for special diets and preferences)
  • Laundry
  • Standard therapies
  • Outings and social events

We make every effort to provide our resident’s needs. However certain items, such as alcohol, dry cleaning and private therapies, will need to be paid for separately.
